The St Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office says they have captured an inmate who escaped last week.
Barry Butler was arrested in Eunice.
Officials say a citizen spotted Butler in the Eunice area and notified the sheriff’s office. Deputies responded to the area where the inmate was spotted and arrested him without incident.
Butler was assigned as a trusty at the department’s service station on the west side of Opelousas and walked off the property Friday September 7, 2018, according to Major Eddie Thibodeaux, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
Butler was serving time for traffic charges, flight charges, and felon in possession of a firearm.
