Shortly before 10:00 am on August 31, 2018, Troop I responded to a report of a fatal crash on LA 182 near LA 358. The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Delores Mason of Opelousas.
Troopers say the preliminary investigation revealed Mason was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer southbound on LA 182 and for unknown reasons ran off of the right side of the roadway. The vehicle reportedly struck several mailboxes, entered a ditch, and overturned.
Impairment is unknown, but routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
