Two arrested on drug charges in Sunset

Sunset Police made a traffic stop last night that turned into a narcotics bust.

A patrol officer stopped a car on Napoleon Avenue last night about 9 p.m., a spokesman said. In the car were Devonte Linden, 19, of Grand Coteau, and Miles Pickens, 19, of Lafayette. There also were three children in the car, who weren’t properly restrained, the spokesman said.

During their investigation, the officers allegedly found marijuana, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, undisclosed amount of cash and a loaded nine-millimeter handgun.

Pickens was booked with Resisting an officer, Simple Escape, Possession of Sch I (marijuana) with intent, Possession of Sch II (crack cocaine) with intent, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Illegal carrying of firearm in presence of drugs.

Linden was booked with Burnt headlight, Possession of Sch I (marijuana) with intent, Possession of Sch II (crack cocaine) with intent, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Illegal carry of firearm in presence of drugs, Driving without a drivers license, Child not restrained (3 cts.) and Illegal possession of drugs in presence of a minor (3cts.)
