Until further notice, SLEMCO is focusing its operations and efforts entirely on power restoration following the arrival of Hurricane Laura overnight tonight.
The billing lobby is now closed to the public and all other regular services and activities have been suspended.
Several hundred power line workers are already on-site and more are staged just outside the storm’s path, waiting to move in to SLEMCO’s service area as soon as the winds die down. Together with SLEMCO employees, they will restore power and repair what is expected to be major damage from Hurricane Laura.
If the storm is as strong as predicted, customers should be prepared to go without power for an extended period of time. Outages can be reported by calling 1-888-275-3626. Customers can also login to their SmartHub accounts to report an outage.
All downed power lines should be reported to SLEMCO and considered energized and extremely dangerous.
SLEMCO customers can follow updates on the company’s website and Facebook page.
