SLEMCO awarded $2,000 scholarships to 30 winners and an alternate today, to attend college or trade school this Fall and next Spring.
The random drawing is usually held at SLEMCO’s Annual Membership Meeting in the Cajundome but large gatherings are strictly limited this year due to public health concerns over the global Covid-19 pandemic.
To support local families who may have been adversely affected by drastic cuts in income, SLEMCO chose to award an additional 11 scholarships this year instead of the usual 20.
