Senator Gerald Boudreaux (Dist. 24) released a statement Thursday regarding last week's violence at the U.S. Capitol.

In his remarks, which Boudreaux said he intentionally waited one week to release, Boudreaux commended Senator Bill Cassidy for his "fortitude and leadership," adding that "those who are leaders and engineered, recruited and remained complicit as this INSURRECTION took place, their day of reckoning will come."

Boudreaux calls for those in leadership to serve and lead and to unite instead of divide. He asks that those at the state and local level reflect on "how to return the honor and dignity of democracy" and how to be an instrument of peace in an effort to "positively impact the quality of life for all of our citizens."
