A national non-profit insurance company has partnered with Feeding America to help fight hunger in communities nationwide, including here in Acadiana.

Recently, WoodmenLife hosted an online campaign that ultimately raised and delivered more than $1 million to Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund.

WoodmenLife and Feeding America directed those funds to specific areas in need, one being Louisiana. Here, the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, Second Harvest Food Bank of Acadiana, and Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans received a total of $89,100.

According to a release from the company, WoodmenLife has collected 29,557 pounds of food and $65,287 for food banks in Louisiana since beginning their efforts in 2015.

"At WoodmenLife, we believe no one should worry about where their next meal will come from," said Regional Director Desi Doise. "Feeding America's work for more than 40 million people each year is a lifeline our country can't live without right now, and we're honored to be able to work alongside them."
