Acadiana schools already were closed today, for the most part, because of the Mardi Gras holiday.

Some districts also were planning to be closed for tomorrow, as well, for the holiday, but some were not.

Here are the decisions, by parish:

Iberia Parish already was closed tomorrow for the holiday.
Evangeline Parish already was closed tomorrow for the holiday.
St. Mary Parish already was closed tomorrow for the holiday.
Vermilion Parish already was closed tomorrow for the holiday.

Jeff Davis Parish was not, but officials say they will close schools tomorrow, for weather-related reasons.

St. Martin Parish will be closed on Wednesday. Here's the statement they sent us: All St. Martin Parish schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, February 17, 2021 due to the potential for unsafe road conditions. The residual effects of the recent hard freeze and the potential for additional unsafe travel conditions have led to this decision for the safety of our students and employees. We will continue to monitor conditions and communicate with our local Office of Emergency Preparedness. Please monitor local media stations, our district’s website or our district’s facebook page for updates.

St. Landry Parish will be closed on Wednesday. Here's the statement they sent us: St. Landry Parish Public schools and administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Hazardous road conditions and power outages have resulted in the district’s decision to close facilities for our students, bus drivers, and employees’ safety. We will continue to monitor road conditions and consult with the NWS and the Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEM) in order to ensure the safety of our students and employees. Stay informed of future decisions regarding school reopenings via our SLP app, our district website and our social media pages.

Acadia Parish will be closed on Wednesday. Here's the statement they sent us: Due to the ongoing challenges associated with the extraordinary cold weather conditions we are experiencing, the Acadia Parish School System will close all system facilities and schools tomorrow, Wednesday, February 17th, 2021. The system closure on Wednesday will allow us to continue to assess changing conditions associated with the cold weather; and, is being made in the best interest of our students, families and staff. We'll continue to monitor weather conditions and provide additional updates going forward. It is our hope to return to normal operations on Thursday, February 18th, 2021.

Lafayette Parish will be closed on Wednesday. Here's the statement they sent us: After assessing the impact of the extreme cold weather in our area, and in consultation with local officials, the Lafayette Parish School System will close all schools and facilities on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, in the best interest of safety for students, faculty, and staff. We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and ask that families refer to the LPSS website and Facebook page for updates regarding school status for Thursday, February 18, 2021.

Calcasieu Parish will be closed on Wednesday. Here's their statement: All Calcasieu Parish School Board schools and facilities will be closed Wednesday, February 17. With temperatures not rising above freezing today, we do not believe that road conditions will be safe for travel tomorrow morning. We’ve consulted with emergency and weather officials in our area, and we feel that this decision is in the best interest of safety for all faculty, staff, and students. We will continue to monitor the weather and will notify families tomorrow as to the status of school on Thursday, February 18.

The LSU Eunice campus will be closed on Wednesday. Here's their statement:
