With the continued wintry weather, schools were closed on Thursday across Acadiana.

We've reached out to see which schools will be closed on Friday, February 19, as well.

We'll update this story as we hear from more school systems.

So far, we've heard from schools in the following parishes:

Diocese of Lafayette

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lafayette will remain closed in Friday, February 19, 2021. The closure is due to ongoing winter weather concerns in Acadiana. The Diocese says that classes will resume Monday, February 22.

Acadia Parish
The Acadia Parish School System will remain closed on Friday, February 19, 2021 due to continued challenges with winter weather conditions.
Superintendent Scott Richard says that school system will continue to assess facilities and closely monitor water system problems across the parish. APSS plans to resume normal operations on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Calcasieu Parish

All Calcasieu Parish School Board schools and facilities will be closed Friday, February 19 due to pipe leaks, little or no water pressure, and heating issues across the parish. The school board says they will not be able to fully identify and repair pipe leaks until water pressure returns across the district. The lack of water pressure also continues to prevent our boilers from fully functioning to heat schools. Temporary roofing materials put in place following Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta will also have to be repaired due to new leaks caused by ice.

Evangeline Parish

Evangeline Parish public schools will remain closed on Friday February 19.

Superintendent Darwan Lazard says that due the impact of the recent winter storm, all schools and offices in the Evangeline Parish School District will be closed.

Lazard says the schools and offices are expected to reopen Monday, February 22, 2021.
Students are expected to complete virtual lessons.

Iberia Parish

Due to extended water issues and boil water advisories, public schools and offices will be closed in Iberia Parish on Friday, February 19, 2021.

Jeff Davis Parish

All Jeff Davis Parish public schools will be closed Friday, February 19, 2021, according to John Hall, Asst. Superintendent.

Lafayette Parish

All Lafayette Parish School System schools and offices will be closed Friday, February 19, 2021. Based on today’s assessment of facilities across the district, low water pressure, busted pipes, and heating issues remain a concern. LPSS says that staff will work through the weekend to address these issues in preparation for the reopening of schools on Monday, February 22, 2021.

LPSS reminds students that Monday is an A day for 7th, 10th, & 11th-grade students, while 6th and 9th-grade students join our elementary, 8th, and 12th-grade students for daily in-person instruction. As a reference, please view the district calendar here. For up-to-date information families are asked to refer to the LPSS website and Facebook page.

Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy in Youngsville and Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy will both be closed on Friday, Feb. 19.

Sugar ‘n Spice Children’s Academy in Youngsville, Broussard, and Lafayette will be open on Friday, Feb.19.

Sugar ‘n Spice Children’s Academy in Carencro will remain closed on Friday, Feb. 19.

Willow Charter Academy in Lafayette will be closed on Friday, Feb. 19.

St. Landry Parish

All St. Landry Parish public schools and facilities will remain closed Friday, February 19. The school systems says they are dealing a number of problems including water pressure, pipe leaks, and issues involving heating across the parish.
District officials say they will not be able to fully identify and repair pipe leaks until water pressure returns across the district. Additionally, the lack of water pressure prevents boilers from functioning effectively which contributes to heating issues at some schools.

Schools are expected to re-open on Monday, February 22, 2021.

St. Martin Parish

Due to several issues including low water pressure in some communities, St. Martin Parish schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, February 19, 2021, according to
Allen Blanchard, Jr., Superintendent of St. Martin Parish School Board.

St. Mary Parish

Schools in St. Mary Parish will close Friday February 19, as weather related conditions impact utility service in various areas of the parish.
Superintendent Teresa Bagwell says that district and school administrators will report to their school or office location in order to assess buildings and monitor conditions.
Students will return to class as scheduled on Monday February 22, 2021.
The school system was opened on Thursday but classes were released early after water issues became a problem.
