Sandbags available for Acadiana ahead of Delta

Sandbags are available in some parishes in Acadiana ahead of any potential effects from Hurricane Delta.

All locations are self-bagging, and residents must bring their own shovel and manpower.

ACADIA PARISH

Crowley

Sandbags will be available at the Crowley Public Works building, located at 220 Jack Mitchell Road Wednesday, October 7th, and tomorrow, Thursday, October 8th, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sandbags will not be available on Friday, October 9th, the day the hurricane is expected to make landfall. You must be a resident of Crowley and provide a valid driver's license when picking up the sandbags. A total of 6 sandbags per address will be provided. City Hall will be closed on Friday, October 9th.

Sandbag sites are available throughout Lafayette Parish. All locations are self-bagging, and residents must bring their own shovel and manpower. Please note: The Fortune Road sandbag location is no longer open. The new location is Foster Park at 399 2nd Street in Youngsville.

St. Landry Parish
Sandbags are available for St. Landry Parish residents at the Yambilee Building (1939 W. Landry, Opelousas) Wednesday and Thursday. There is a 10-bag limit per car. Citizens in parish municipalities should check with their local government for local sandbag locations.

Self-Fill Sandbag Stations will be set up tomorrow morning at 9a.m. at Caffery Park on Barrow Street and the Peace Memorial on Eastwood Drive. Sand and Bags will be provided. Must bring your own shovel.

St. Mary Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security
Sandbag locations will be located throughout the parish at their normal sites. Please bring shovel. We ask all citizens to be prepared and please monitor.

VERMILION PARISH

Erath

Abbeville

The City of Abbeville is now offering sandbags to its citizens at the City Barn (1811 Godchaux Street). City workers are there to assist anyone in need.

  • Until 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 8.

Maurice

Sand and bags are available in front of the police station on the corner of Lastie and Corinne street for the citizens of the Village. Please limit to six-ten bags per household.
