Below is information for where residents can pick up sandbags in preparation for severe weather. This list is developing and will be updated as necessary.

Acadia Parish

Church Point

Residents should bring shovels. Sand bags and sand will be provided free of charge. Limit three per door. Must show ID and reside in Church Point city limits.

Lafayette Parish

Sand and bags are provided for free, but Lafayette Parish residents will need to fill their own bags and bring their own shovel. Residents should limit their bags to four per door, with a maximum of 20 bags per household. LCG sandbag sites are open during daylight hours - from sunrise to sunset.

Broussard

Sand and sandbags are available to City of Broussard residents at the following locations:
~Behind Broussard City Hall - 310 E. Main St.~Deer Meadow Subdivision - corner of Deer Meadow Blvd. and Myette Point St.~Broadview Dr. – by the Broussard Community Center.
These sandbag stations are self-bagging and are open until the threat of a heavy rain has passed. While the sand and sandbags are a free service, residents will need to supply their own shovel.

Duson

The Town of Duson has provided over 300 sand bags to local residents in the past 48 hours. Currently, residents needing additional bags of sand will need to bring their own shovel and fill the bags with sand, while supplies last.

Sand and sandbags are provided to residents at Duson Parish Park located at the end of S. A Street Extension, this is the road which runs alongside of Champagne’s Grocery and beyond the stop sign you will find a circular driveway at the park with large amounts of sand and some sandbags.

Residents are reminded that these bags are intended to divert water from doorways of houses on cement slabs, sandbags do not help with water intrusion into elevated houses or mobile homes.

Scott (This one only for Scott residents)

Youngsville

Baldwin Redi-Mix, located at 2000 E Broussard Rd in Lafayette, LA near Milton, LA.

The sand at the Baldwin Redi-Mix site was generously donated by the owners of the company. As with the two other sites, bags and sand are provided at no charge, but residents must provide their own manpower.

The LCG sites are "self-bagging," meaning the bags and sand are provided to Lafayette Parish residents free, at no charge, but residents will need to supply their own manpower and shovel. Residents are asked to limit their sandbags to four bags per exterior door, with a maximum of 20 sandbags per household.

Two more satellite sandbag stations will be announced as soon as they are stocked and open to the public.

Iberia Parish

Shovels will not be provided and residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags.

City of Opelousas will provide pre-filled sandbags to residents July 11 & 12 at the following locations:

  • Opelousas Police Dept. 318 N. Court St. Thur- Fri, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Opelousas Public Works (City Barn) 436 W Park Ave. Thur- Fri. 7:00 am to 4:00pm

Grand Coteau - Sand and bags are available near the police station Wednesday, July 10. Bring a shovel and be prepared to bag your own. If you can't bag your own, call City Hall or any of the alderman and they will get it to you. For more information or if you need assistance during this time call City Hall 662-5246.

Washington - Sandbags will be made available at the Town Barn.

Franklin: Sandbags will be available at the public works building on Iberia St. Must bring your own shovel.

Morgan City: Two piles of sand under the Hwy. 90 bridge on David Drive. This sand is for public use, and is not bagged. Any citizen wishing to obtain a small amount of sand bags may go to that location and fill the amount they need.

Patterson: Taft St. and Fire Substation south of rail afternoon Wednesday, July 10.

Vermilion Parish

Vermilion Parish will issue Sand Bags at the following locations:

Abbeville: Sandbags will be available starting Thursday, July 11 at Abbeville City Barn. Bring ID.

Gueydan: Street Department Yard (1208 Second Street) and the town water tower (800 Wilkinson Street).

Maurice: Sandbags are available only for those residents/businesses within the corporation limits of the Village of Maurice. Must show proof of residency at Maurice City Hall prior to filling sand bags. Limit to 10 sand bags per resident address
