and last updated

NEW IBERIA, La. Saturday was a busy move-in day at one of the new PRIME TIME Head Start locations.

Staff began moving in to one of the facilities on December 19 in New Iberia, at 420 Dodson St.

The Office of Head Start has selected PRIME TIME, Inc. to provide Early Head Start and Head Start services within Lafayette and Iberia parishes. With this grant, PRIME TIME, Inc. will serve 747 children, from six weeks to five years old, through a diverse set of free, humanities-focused program options as part of providing Head Start services to the area.

"Dodson really fit the bill," said President and Executive Director of PRIME TIME Miranda Restovic. "We know that this elementary school has been around and means a lot to the community, and I think it's going to have a whole new life with the Head Start program."

Created by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities in 1991, PRIME TIME initiatives promote humanities-centered learning, which focuses on the development of foundational skills related to reading, communication, perspective, logic and more. In addition to the Lafayette/Iberia area, PRIME TIME operates the Head Start program in Ouachita Parish, which currently serves 505 students.

Families interested in PRIME TIME Head Start may call (337) 347-6699 or visit www.primetimefamily.org/head-start-lafayette-iberia/ for additional information.
