Three schools are releasing early today due to a power outage that is affecting two parishes.

Officials with St. Martin Parish Schools say that the electricity is out at Cecilia Primary and Cecilia Jr. High.

Power is not expected to be returned to the schools for some time. Because of this, students will be dismissed early.

"We are closing these two schools only," officials say on the Cecilia Primary website.

Bus riders will be returned home beginning at 9:30 am on Thursday. If any parent does not have arrangements for their children, please contact the School Board Office at 332-2105. The secretary at the School Board Office will contact the principal via cellphone.

Children will be transported to the high school gym until a parent can pick them up.

In St. Landry Parish, Arnaudville Middle School will be dismissing at 9:30 AM today, December 19, 2019, due to a power outage. The St. Landry Parish School system says that if your child attends Arnaudville Middle School, buses will be transporting them home or they may be picked up at the school.

Entergry says the power outage was caused by a power pole that was broken in half. Those in the area that are affected by the outage are expected to be out of power for the next three to four hours.
