Acadiana Animal Aid hosted the 21st Annual Bark in the Park at Girard Park in Lafayette on Saturday, November 2.

The event helps to support operational costs of the shelter and save the lives of many homeless animals in the community.

Everyone was encouraged to bring both their four-legged and two-legged children for a day of fun activities, including fun jumps, rides, food, prizes, and a photo booth. Micro-chipping will also be available.

For the furry friends, there was special pampering and fun contests.

The event also included free mini courses on training techniques, ways to have fun with your pup, and improving your dog's social abilities.

Bark in the Park is attended by many vendors and rescue groups who distribute information, products, and more.

Jeanine Foucher, Executive Director of Acadiana Animal Aid, explained why the event is important.

"I hope that everybody who attends really can come out and have a great time, give their dogs an opportunity to socialize, realize the importance of microchipping, and knowing that there are so many shelters and rescues."

The Acadiana Humane Society was at Bark in the Park, giving away free dog clothes and doggy clean up bags. They also hosted a free door prize drawing.
