The National EMS Academy, a division of Acadian Companies, is holding free online information sessions in advance of the fall semester of EMT, anatomy & physiology (A&P) and paramedic classes. The National EMS Academy is a partnership between South Louisiana Community College and Acadian Ambulance, and was founded in 2003 to educate and train students to become EMTs and paramedics.

Information sessions will be held on:

EMT program: June 16, 23, 30; July 7, 13, 23

A&P/Paramedic program: June 23; July 13, 23

Information sessions are an essential and mandatory part of a student's enrollment process for EMT, A&P and paramedic programs. The sessions cover details on the program schedule, enrollment processes, current tuition, financial aid options and payment options. The sessions are held online via WebEx and can be accessed on all devices. Please note that space is limited and interested students must register in advance.

The National EMS Academy has campuses located in Lafayette, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Houma, Covington, New Orleans and Lake Charles. The EMT and paramedic programs are hybrid, combining online instruction and exams and in-person skills training.

"Especially during this unprecedented time, Acadian Ambulance is focused on hiring more EMTs and paramedics. Over the past few years, the National EMS Academy has adapted to students' needs, and the online hybrid program ensures that students remain safe while studying for their certification," said National EMS Academy Director Kirk Lacour.

Many communities across the United States, especially in rural areas, are experiencing a shortage of qualified EMTs and paramedics. EMS is a vital industry with the roles of the EMT and paramedic continuing to be in high demand. EMS is a viable career path for those who choose a vocational or non-college track after high school, or for those seeking a career change later in life. Additionally, many students looking to enroll in nursing or medical school begin their journey as an EMT or paramedic.
