All Saints' Day is November 1st, and a group of local 4-H students decided to prepare in a special way.

The students cleaned graves at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott in preparation for the day. As a service project, the students wanted to show respect to those who have gone before us.

All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows' Day or Feast of All Saints, is a day in the Christian church that commemorates saints who have passed away and are in Heaven. The day is important to Louisiana French culture; families used to adorn the graves of their loved ones with flowers and wreaths in their memory.

Organizers explained why they believe the students' efforts are important.

"I think this is a way for them to either show their loved ones who have gone before them, to share with other loved ones, or just random people...to show them that everybody's loved and everybody should be remembered."
