Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital recently presented the LSU Eunice Foundation with a $20,000 check to create the Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital Endowed Scholarship for a student enrolled in LSUE's surgical technology clinical program.

The LSUE Foundation will submit the scholarship to the Louisiana Board of Regents for matching funds through its workforce development matching funds program. The Board of Regents has matched several LSUE scholarships.

LSU Eunice began offering an associate of applied science degree in surgical technology last year. The degree prepares students to be competent entry-level surgical technologists, rated by the Louisiana Workforce Development Commission as a four star job in high demand. The new program recently received accreditation status from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs.
