The Lafayette Fire Department was out after the flood assisting motorists and pedestrians.
KATC cameras were at the corner of Madeline and St. Antoine when firemen assisted a man in a wheelchair through the flooded intersections.
Firefighters say that they were leaving a call when they noticed the man in a wheelchair stranded and offered assistance.
The man was then put into the fire truck and taken to one of the fire stations until the water receded.
