Hundreds of Lafayette Parish high school students are getting paid to return to school this summer.
The Jump Start Summer Program kicked off today.
The month-long course is part of a statewide initiative that helps students learn trades while earning credits and cash.
“We’re not just doing high school courses we are doing college courses where we can get an early start so when we do get to college,” said Nicholas Lott, junior in high school. “We’ll have the main peers we need to use to graduate college so even though we are in high school they are preparing us for more.”
