LAFAYETTE, La. – Registration is open for a youth-oriented educational program called Ready. Set. Make! that exposes students to the world of film production.

Ready. Set. Make! is a five-day camp for young filmmakers ages 15 to 17. A panel will review applications and the top 12 will be chosen to participate in this camp. Participants will be instructed throughout the production sequence to create their own project. Facilities, training, and oversight will be provided by AOC Community Media with the assistance from visiting professionals.

Throughout the camp, students are exposed to major steps of pre-production, production, post-production, teambuilding, project selection, scripting, and arranging production schedules. Once the filmmaking process is completed, the short films will compete in a selection process overseen by Southern Screen for a chance to premiere at this year’s Southern Screen Festival, which is taking place November 7 through the 10.

The deadline to apply for Ready. Set. Make! is Monday, June 3, and the camp is from Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, at AOC.
