Dogs and cats take flight toward promising future

Nearly 200 shelter pets from Louisiana and Mississippi are settling into their new digs on the East Coast after being flown from Lafayette.

The animals from Acadiana Animal Aid and three other shelters departed the Lafayette Regional Airport Saturday morning for Brandywine SPCA in Delaware and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey.

The flight is made possible by Wings of Rescue, GreaterGood.org and the ASPCA.

The reason is so that dogs and cats can go from overcrowded shelters where they are less likely to be adopted to shelters with room and better opportunities for adoption.
