LAFAYETTE, La. – Stop the Bleed Training is set for May 18 at the Lafayette Public Library, 301 W. Congress St., Lafayette from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Studies have shown that the help given by an immediate responder can often make the difference between life and death, even before medical professionals arrive. This program is designed to empower the general public to make a difference in a life-threatening emergency by teaching them the basics of bleeding control.
This course will teach you how to identify life-threatening bleeding, how to apply direct pressure to stop bleeding, how to pack a deep wound with cloth or gauze to control bleeding, how to correctly apply a tourniquet and how to help keep the victim calm until help arrives.
