Mother’s Day brunch a big day for restaurants

Statistics show that Mother’s Day is the biggest day of the year for many American restaurants – and the biggest day of the year for brunch.

The National Restaurant Association estimates that almost half of Americans will either take mom out to eat or order take-out or delivery for Mother’s Day. That makes Mother’s Day one of the busiest days of the year for many restaurants.

In Lafayette, that’s certainly true for The Saint Street Inn, a farm to table restaurant located near the UL Campus.

“Mother’s Day brunch, it’s one of the busiest Sunday brunches of the year for us, and, I think, for every restaurant,” said Nathan Stubbs, owner of Saint Street Inn. “Luckily the weather cleared for us, and we’re able to enjoy some outdoor seating.”

Stubbs said a lot of families were at his place today to honor their mothers.

“It’s always nice to see people celebrating with their families and celebrating with their moms. We’re just happy to be a part of that,” Stubbs said. “It’s always rewarding when people are gracious about coming in and enjoying everything that we’re putting a lot of work into, the menu and the service, everything we do here. We have a great clientele and great community support here. It’s great to see that all come together to make somebody’s day with a nice meal.”

The Saint Street Inn has brunch, usually including live music, every Sunday. For more information on the restaurant, click here.
