The bi-annual Acadiana Bird Fair wrapped up today.
The two-day event took place at the District Event Center on Johnston Street.
Proceeds from admission tickets and donations go to local charities and avian research.
It his hosted by the Acadiana Bird Club, which is made up of bird owners and bird lovers who want to preserve birds and educate the public about them. To read more about the club, click here.
“We have this event twice a year, we have it in the spring and we have it in the fall,” said Dan Vollmer, president of the club. “Right now we’re experiencing a very high demand for birds. Yesterday we had a record number of people that came through the door since we’ve been at this location.”
