The State Fire Marshal’s Office has arrested a Duson man in connection with a fire at the home he and his father were renting.

John Vinciguerra III, 31, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail on Friday, March 22, as a fugitive for an outstanding warrant for one count of Simple Arson. He is awaiting transfer to Acadia Parish Jail to be booked on the arson charge.
On March 1, the Duson Police Department call the state office for help in determining the origin and cause of a house fire located in the 100 block of Kevin Lane.
After an assessment of the scene, investigators determined the fire began on a mattress and was intentionally set.
During the investigation, deputies learned Vinciguerra had been taken into custody by Duson PD after he admitted to setting the fire and got into an altercation with responding officers. While receiving treatment for his injuries, Vinciguerra was hospitalized for a mental evaluation.
Following his release, Vinciguerra was taken into custody in Lafayette fire marshal officials on March 22. He remains in the Lafayette Parish Jail on unrelated charges from additional agencies. He will be booked into the Acadia Parish Jail following the resolution of the unrelated charges.
