4 people arrested following death of Christian Roper on murder, attempted robbery

UPDATE:

The Lafayette Police Department has made additional arrests in connection with the March 13 homicide of 18-year-old Christian Roper. Roper died following a shooting in the parking lot of the Grand Pointe Apartments on Kaliste Saloom Road.

27-year-old Tyler James Hebert of New Iberia was arrested and booked in Aurora, Colorado on March 16 on a first-degree murder charge. He is awaiting extradition to Lafayette.

Three additional arrests have been made in connection with the Roper’s death.

·       20-year-old Derek J. Junca of Baldwin:  principal to first-degree murder

·       18-year-old Ayden C. McDonald of Lafayette: attempted first-degree robbery

·       19-year-old Trevis L. Thomas of Lafayette: attempted first-degree robbery

Junca, McDonald, and Thomas were booked in to the Lafayette Parish Jail.

A New Iberia man has been arrested in Colorado in connection with the shooting death of a Lafayette teen last week.

Tyler James Hebert

Tyler James Hebert, 27, was arrested in Aurora, Colorado on a first-degree murder warrant.

He’s accused in connection with the March 13 shooting death of Christian Roper, 18.

The Lafayette Police Department Criminal Investigations Division with combined efforts with the United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force Lafayette Office and the United States Marshals Service Colorado Violent Offender Task Force Office, located and arrested Hebert.

Hebert is currently awaiting extradition from Colorado and will be booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center upon arrival to Lafayette.
