Lafayette Travel held a meeting on Congres Mondial Acadian 2019.
The meeting included state tourism officials as well as representatives from Congres Mondial Acadian(CMA).
The gathering is happening in Canada this year and is expected to attract around 100,000 participants.
The Congres takes place every 5 years in an effort to strengthen ties that unite Acadian communities and families. This is the 25th anniversary of the event.
Congres Mondial Acadian was held in Louisiana back in 1999.

“It goes all over the place. Anywhere with Acadian population can host it. So, it becomes kind of a really international event for the purpose of regrouping Acadians dispersed all across the world. And come back as one large family,” said Josh Mury Director of Operations for Congres Mondial Acadian.
