A group in Lafayette is celebrating the success of women by spotlighting their local businesses.
Women Rising is holding events through March and April focusing on the promotion of women in business. Thursday, the group started their tour of local businesses owned by black women in the community with The Juliet Hotel.
More open houses will be held on Friday and on Saturday.
Lesa Lloyd, owner of Lafayette’s Julie Hotel, says that one goal is to “celebrate the success of women so that every little girl knows that she can do anything she sets her mind too; she can be anything she sets her mind to; and she can own any business she sets her mind to. Women and girl magic truly does exist in the United States, In Louisiana and most definitely in Lafayette.”
The group also hopes to provide exposure to the businesses during these open houses. A list of businesses being featured is below:
