Mardi Gras has come and gone. And if you made out to at least one parade in Louisiana, you’re probably now the proud owner of a large pile of beads and throws.

But what do you do now with all of those colorful beads? One organization in Acadiana is willing to take them off your hands.

KATC’s Abby Breidenbach was LIVE on Thursday finding out more about where you can donate your beads and throws and the work that goes on at LARC’s Beads-N-More Store.

LARC services about 200 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their Beads-N-More Store is one of their many enterprises. Twelve individuals work at the store year-round with supervisors to make sure the store is stocked for the next Carnival season. The store is now accepting bead donations.

The store will even package beads for special occasions.

Beads donated to the store are sorted by workers, bagged, and then resold for the next year. LARC says they accept bead donations year-round. But it’s not just beads. LARC says they accept all types of throws and specialty Mardi Gras-themed items.

Beads can be dropped off at Beads-N-More Store at Acadian Village in Lafayette or at any Goodwill location in Acadiana. Several other business locations in Acadiana will be taking donations including the four main branches of the Lafayette Public Library and Raisin Cane’s locations. Jobs Development Manager Carthy Guillet also says that local schools may begin collections upon their return.

The Beads-N-More Store is open weekdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. For more information visit LARC or call 337-981-8484.
