2019 ICON Arts and Cultural Award winners announced

On Wednesday, the ABC Fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana announced the 2019 ICON Arts and Cultural Award winners.

The winners were formally announced at a reception on February 21. That reception also honored past ICONs and sponsors. A ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in downtown Lafayette to formally recognize the winners.

The 2019 ICON Awards will be presented to:

  • Lil Buck Sinegal for Lifetime Achievement 
  • Vergie Banks, Visual Artist
  • Lauren Daigle, Performing Artist
  • Catherine Blanchet, Trailblazer
  • Cesear Vincent Project: Barry Ancelet, Chris Stafford, Patrick Mould for Leadership in the Creative Economy-Project
  • Andre Courville as Rising Star

This is the third year for the ICON Arts and Cultural Awards gala. The awards celebrate local artists and cultural trailblazers who have made an impact on the Acadiana community.

Proceeds will benefit the ABC Fund, which was established to create and sustain an endowment to support arts, business and culture, according to a release.

Tickets for the ceremony and pre-reception are open to the public and can be purchased at AcadianaCenterforTheArts.org. Tickets are $100 and include food, drink, and entertainment.
