A student in Acadiana wanting to apply to South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette accidentally applied for Salt Lake Community College, both known as SLCC.

Fox 13 in Salt Lake City reports Kaitlynn Lovelady, of Crowley, typed in ‘SLCC’ in her search browser and clicked the link she thought was directing her to the Lafayette community college’s website.

Lovelady then submitted the application and also paid a $40 application fee.

She later realized her mistake and tweeted about it, saying farewell to her application fee.

Unbeknownst to her, the tweet would go viral, catching the attention of both colleges and Utah officials.

Utah Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox chimed in, boasting about their cool summers.

South Louisiana Community College tweeted, “It’s so much warmer here! See you on campus soon!”

According to the Salt Lake City-based media outlet, Salt Lake Community College offered to reimburse Lovelady the $40 application fee.

A Utah businessperson offered to pay for the student’s flight to Salt Lake City, so she could tour the community college’s campus. Lovelady says she will take up the offer and visit Salt Lake City in April, telling Fox 13 it will be her first time leaving Louisiana.
