A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Friendship Street that injured a woman.
Police say that on Wednesday at around 3:52 pm, officers responded to a disturbance in progress at a residence in the 200 block of Friendship Street.
Upon officers arrival, a 21-year-old woman was located suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
29-year-old Manuel H. King of Lafayette was identified as the suspect in this shooting. Police say he fled the scene on foot prior to officers arrival.
King allegedly entered the parking lot of a local business where he carjacked a vehicle. King was then involved in two additional carjacking’s within the city limits, according to police.
Following a vehicle pursuit led by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, King was apprehended at a location in St. Martin Parish.
Witnesses tell KATC that pursuit ended on Hebert Avenue in Breaux Bridge when his vehicle crashed into a pond.
King was placed under arrest for attempted second-degree murder, 3-counts of carjacking, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, home invasion, and an active warrant.
The investigation remains ongoing.
