The Youngsville Police Department has issued a warning to owners and drivers of sports cars participating in drag racing within city limits.

The department says they have received several complaints from residents about repeated instances of drag racing and vehicles with loud mufflers. Police are asking parents to speak with their children or face fines.

A Facebook post by the department says that perpetrators have been warned numerous times but that the instances still continue to happen.

“I have been left with no choice but to take serious action!!!!” the post reads.

Police will begin ticketing and towing any vehicles found with illegal tint, loud mufflers, or that are found participating in drag racing activities. The department says that vehicle owners will be fined for each violation found and will be charged a towing fee. Holds will be placed on vehicles and a storage fee imposed until violations have been fixed.
