A Scott man is being accused of attempted murder following a domestic dispute this morning.

Shortly after 6 a.m., officers responded to a home on Westgate Road, between Dulles Drive and Eraste Landry Road, after being alerted of a disturbance involving a man with an axe.

According to Chief Chad Leger, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Tyler Paul LeBlanc, had fled the area prior to officers’ arrival.

The suspect’s estranged wife told officers LeBlanc entered the home and threatened her and her boyfriend with the axe, Leger says.

After several alleged threats, LeBlanc exited the home and got into his vehicle. The victims are said to have followed the suspect to the porch of the home to ensure he had left. The suspect then allegedly rammed his vehicle into the porch and attempted to run over the victims. LeBlanc then fled the scene without the vehicle.

After a lengthy canvas of the area, LeBlanc was found by police laying in a grassy field just north of where the incident happened.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked in to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. He is facing two counts of aggravated assault, attempted second-degree murder, and aggravated criminal damage to property. No bond has been set at this time.
