Nearly 50 gallons of hydraulic fluid were spilled along a residential street in Scott Thursday morning.

According to Chief Chad Sonnier with the Scott Fire Department, the hydraulic cylinder on a Republic Services truck broke, causing the spill on Ocho Rios Lane.

The Department of Environmental Quality responded to the incident, and has ordered a private company to clean up the spill.

They’re hoping to get the spill cleaned up by tonight, Sonnier says. The spill was cleaned on Saturday, two days after the spill occurred.

KATC has reached out to DEQ for more information on this spill and if Republic Services is facing any violations. We have also reached out to Republic Services for information regarding the incident.
