CHURCH POINT

Saturday, January 19, Church Point Community Center, 104 Darbonne St 70525, from 1 pm to 3 pm. Events include coloring contest, essay writing contest, door prizes and refreshments. Guest Speaker: Andrew Handy.

EUNICE

33rd Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. City-Wide Celebration on Jan. 19. Prayer breakfast at New Zion Baptist Church Family Life Center at 9 am. Parade starts at 2 p.m. from Eunice City Hall to New Zion Baptist Church. Followed by New Zion Baptist Church celebration program at 3 p.m.

KAPLAN

Clean-up day is happening Saturday, January 19 on MLK Dr. in Kaplan. Volunteers will be out cleaning up the roadway before the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The event begins at 9:00 am.

A celebration will be held on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Kaplan. Celebration Meal at 10:30 am at the New Beginnings Primitive Baptist Church, 622 E. Veterans Drive in Kaplan. March along MLK Drive at North Cushing near the Kaplan Police Department at 1:00 pm. A service following the March back at New Beginnings Church. Saturday, January 19

Musical Extravaganza at 1:00 pm, Martin Luther King Youth Pageant at 4:00 pm

Sunday, January 20

King Holiday Parade at 3:00 pm (Line up at the Martin Luther King Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.) Parade Marshal: Greg Davis.The parade will start at the Martin Luther King Center, 309 Cora Street and process down MLK Memorial Parkway (Willow Street) and conclude at the Clifton Chenier Center/Church of Philadelphia.

LOREAUVILLE

Dr, Martin Luther King Jr. march Monday, January 21 at 10:00 am from the Loreauville Park to Our Lady Of Victory Church where there will be a program, with singing, praise dancing and a gospel play.

 

NEW IBERIA

MLK Event to be held at West End Park – Martin Luther King Recreation Center, 1200 Field Street, New Iberia 70560, 1:00 pm Monday, January 21. Guest Speaker: Rev. Sydney Mitchell, Pastor New Iberia Church of the Narzarene. The community is invited to attend and participate in this event. Refreshments will be served.

 

ST. MARTINVILLE

The African American Museum Foundation invites you to join them on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 3pm at St. Martinville Junior High to celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. St. Martinville Junior High is located at 7190 South Main Street in St. Martinville.The event is free and open to the public.

Rayne 

Annual citywide Martin Luther King Jr. program will be held January 21 at the Rayne Civic Center at 11 am. Join the City of Rayne, organizations and families to celebrate MLK Day, which includes community leaders,  guest speaker, award presentations, entertainment and food. The Depot Program begins at 8:30 am.

 

WELSH

MLK Day celebration Monday, January 21. Event starts at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 310 N. Sarah St. Parade at noon. Free lunch following parade at the church. Children are invited to write a 50 word or less essay on what the holiday means to them and read it on the day of the event.
