LAFAYETTE, La. – IBM will conduct a career fair on Saturday, Jan. 19, in Lafayette. IBM seeks experienced and emerging information technology professionals for its flagship Client Innovation Center in downtown Baton Rouge. LED FastStart®, the nation’s top-ranked state workforce development program, is supporting the event. The career fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Louisiana Community College in the Devalcourt Building, located at 320 Devalcourt St. in Lafayette.

The Lafayette career fair will help provide the next generation of skilled workers that companies such as IBM will rely upon in Louisiana. Interviews will take place on site for all interested candidates. Attendees are asked to dress professionally and bring their résumé.

“Louisiana’s IT industry continues to grow, thanks to the critical role that companies like IBM are playing,” LED FastStart Executive Director Paul Helton said. “IBM is one of the most well-respected companies in the industry, and its presence in Baton Rouge demonstrates confidence in the Louisiana workforce. Working with Louisiana’s higher education community, LED is committed to providing companies like IBM with a world-class workforce. We are confident that Lafayette can support the IBM team with skilled professionals for the leading IT opportunities of the future.”

IBM’s operations in Louisiana have played a significant role in advancing the state’s software, digital media and IT services sector, the fastest-growing industry sector in the state. A key to the sector’s success is Louisiana’s strategic investment of millions of dollars at higher education campuses throughout the state to expand degree and certification programs in computer science and related STEM fields. IBM operates two Client Innovation Centers in Louisiana, one in downtown Baton Rouge and one in Century Village next to CenturyLink’s headquarters in Monroe.

IBM is seeking to fill 75 available positions in Baton Rouge. To see the list of available jobs in more than 40 technology specialties, visit IBMLouisiana.com/jobs.
