Crime has risen in the Town of Duson, that according to the recent crime report released by the police department.
Duson Police say that some categories have seen an increase while other areas have seen significant decrease. In 2018 there were 3 homicides in town compared to none in 2017. Sexual assaults remained the same with only one incident reported to police in both 2017 and 2018. Six more burglaries were reported in 2018 than compared to the previous year.
The chief says his department saw a significant decrease in motor vehicle thefts, assaults, and robberies.
“This trend must be reversed, crime statistics are critical to where we deploy our resources and by increasing patrols against motor vehicle thefts, assaults and robberies our homicides and burglaries increased,” says Chief Kip Judice.
Chief Judice says his department will employ more aggressive patrols associated with burglary analysis and will increase the number of crime cameras in town.
“Our mission to reduce the number of crimes in Duson remains a priority,” says Judice. “With a renewed set of statistics, our success is achievable.”
