Tonight and tomorrow, school board member Jeremy Hidalgo will hold an informational meeting about the future of Southside High School.

Already 1,400 students attend classes at the school and that’s without a senior class. Next school year, Southside is expected to exceed that number.

Lafayette Parish School System is considering adding temporary buildings or possibly re-zoning.

According to the LPSS agenda for Thursday, the board will consider adding six double-classroom portable buildings to Southside High in preparation for the 2019-2020 school year.

Hidalgo posted on Facebook for those interested in attending, “there will be an opportunity to ask questions and review spot rezone map options for future consideration.”

The informational meeting will take place today and tomorrow in the cafeteria of Southside High at 6 pm.

Hidalgo will bring the community’s concerns to the board on Thursday during their regular meeting.
