LAFAYETTE – Mardi Gras is upon us, and the Krewe of Carnivale en Rio is setting up for their annual ball tomorrow night at the Cajundome Convention Center.

Rio’s royalty and dancers are rehearsing for the big show as they plan on entertaining guests with their theme “Close Encounters.”

Ball Lieutenant Mike Munnerlin says the idea of the theme is aliens from all over the galaxy have invaded Lafayette.

Coinciding with the theme, there will be a light show and custom handmade costumes. There will also be live music and a DJ because what’s a ball without some dancing?

If you haven’t gotten your ticket, there’s still some time! Talk to a Rio krewe member or send a message via their Facebook page.

Doors open tomorrow at 6 p.m., and the festivities start at 8 p.m.
