Scott’s new city officials are “officially” in office. The mayor, police chief, and council members were all sworn in. The night wasn’t all about the new administration, a leader from Scott’s past was also in the room.

On Thursday night, more than 100 people were in attendance at council chambers.

Mayor Jan Scott Richard and Police Chief Chad Leger excited for the future of the city.

“It’s so humbling, I feel unworthy, but I’m honored and blessed to be the mayor of the great city of Scott. I look forward to leading the community and doing the right thing and making sure we make wise decisions,” Richard said.

“It’s been truly an honor to serve the people of Scott, my job becomes easy when it’s working with the mayor and councils I’ve been able to work with. They have the vision and understanding, and knowledge to say that public safety is a top priority,” Leger said.

Although the ceremony welcomed new faces, there was on a familiar face in the audience who received a lot of praise. Hazel Myers served the city for over two decades.

“Here at the city, I was mayor, my last position here,” Myers said. A position she held for 22 years and 8 months.

” I just love the people. I’m a people person. Anything I can do to help, I will,” Myers added.

The community is looking forward to working with the new administration.
