The Butterfly Effect Project is now accepting new or gently used dresses and gowns in Lafayette Parish.

The dresses will be donated to high school girls during an event on February 16 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Northgate Mall.

This is the second year of the event after The Butterfly Effect Project took over for AmeriCorps.

The Butterfly Effect Project is a nonprofit that aims to eliminate obstacles, such as mobility, cultural differences and finances, for young women.

You may drop off your dress at the following locations:

  • Bonnie’s Shoetique, Northgate Mall, 1800 NE Evangeline Throughway, Lafayette
  • Cajun Creations Gifts & More, 600 St. Landry Street, Lafayette
  • New Day Community Outreach, 800 W Congress Street, Suite B or C, Lafayette
  • Ann Raush State Farm Insurance, 810 S St. Blaise Lane, Suite F, Youngsville

The February 16 event invites all high school girls to attend and pick out a dress. A valid high school ID is required.

“Last year, we were blessed and fortunate to have so many donations just overflowing, and this year, we’re not seeing that. So, we’d really like people to go ahead and look in their closets. You know, the ball gown season is coming around with all these Mardi Gras balls; please donate your dresses that you’re not using,” said one organizer.
