The owners of Olinde’s have sold much of their business to a company based in Memphis, according to WAFB.
One of those stores, located in Lafayette, has been sold as part of the deal.
The Dufrene Spencer Group purchased two Olinde’s furniture stores and seven Ashley Furniture stores owned by the Olinde family.
The seven local Ashley stores being sold include locations in Opelousas, Houma, Lake Charles, Ponchatoula, Harahan, Gonzales and Denham Springs. The two Olinde’s furniture stores include a location in Lafayette on 200 Westmark Blvd and another on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.
The company buying out those stores have offered employees jobs at the same or better pay, and comparable benefits, according to Beau Olinde.
Three mattress stores will remain under the family’s ownership.
