At around 2:15 p.m., Jan 3, 2019,  police received calls of a shooting at the Lafayette motel.

One person was found at Super 7, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. It is unclear, police say, how many times the person was shot. That person is in critical condition and has been transported to the hospital.

The manager of the motel tells KATC’s Justice Henderson he was not there when the shooting happened, but he was told by tenants they heard a single gunshot. The manager also says officers were investigating a room where a woman was staying.

First responders and police remain on the scene. No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
