The First United Methodist Church and Downtown Lafayette Unlimited hosted a brand new holiday celebration despite the weather Thursday.
The event called Downtown Candlelight Christmas as organizers say ” to the community to come together and celebrate the spirit of Christmas in such a meaningful way.”
The Candlelight Christmas was initially planned to be held outdoors in Parc Sans Souci but was relocated to First United Methodist Church due to the weather. The celebration included readings of the birth of Jesus and traditional Christmas carols
The event was free and open to the public.
