A grassroots campaign against tariffs is releasing new data on how tariffs are affecting Louisiana.

Former Congressman Charles Boustany led the panel discussion with Tariffs Hurt the Heartland.

They say Louisianians have faced 39 million dollars in new retaliatory tariffs.

Boustany claims the tariffs are impacting consumers, their ability to invest in their businesses and farms, and exports.

“There is a lot of collateral damage to the economy, and there’s a much better way to approach the trade problems we have with China. Keep in mind, the approach the president has used so far has not really been very effective. Exports from China have risen—have risen in the face of this,” said Dr. Boustany.
