Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou has taken a proactive approach to increasing the safety of the community during the holidays.
Chief Decou says he has placed extra patrol enforcement in and around shopping centers and banks in the city to prevent and deter crimes that are becoming more and more prevalent.
The extra patrol officers have the sole responsibility of providing saturated patrol in those shopping areas to ensure additional safety for holiday shoppers and travelers throughout the holiday season.
Additionally, approximately six years ago, Decou facilitated a financial institutions program that places officers in each and every financial institution within city limits at random times of the day to increase police presence and ensure a greater level of safety.
According to Decou, the goal of this proactive movement is to protect the entities within the city and to ensure that the members of the community remain safe and secure throughout the holidays.
