YOUNGSVILLE–School board members and parents discussed possible school zone changes during a town hall meeting tonight at Green T. Lindon Elementary School.
The changes would affect elementary and middle school students in Broussard, Youngsville, and southeastern Lafayette.
A second meeting is planned for December 18th at Ernest Gallet Elementary School.
“This is an emotional topic,” District 9 school board member Jeremy Hidalgo said. “This is not an easy decision. In fact, it’s one of the most difficult decisions a school board member has to face. But on the other side of the coin, we’re talking about this because we’ve got new schools coming up. What we need to do is we need to distribute the students so everybody has an equal opportunity.”
