Lafayette police stop stolen vehicle downtown

A woman is being questioned by Lafayette police officers after allegedly driving a truck reported stolen by her husband.

Earlier this evening, officers spotted the green pick-up truck at the intersection of Lafayette and W Vermilion streets.

Ten officers surrounded the truck with guns drawn, demanding the driver and the passenger to get out of the truck.

Tense moments in downtown Lafayette after police stopped a stolen truck. Police had the truck surrounded and guns drawn, yelling for the driver and passenger to get out. The scene has since cleared.

The passenger told KATC’s Chris Welty his friend, who was the driver, picked him up from Don’s Seafood & Steakhouse about four blocks away where they were pulled over.

Police released the passenger.

Officers say the driver’s husband reported the truck stolen yesterday.
