LAFAYETTE – A man is in jail following a domestic dispute with his pregnant girlfriend.
Yesterday, police responded to a Lafayette apartment complex after receiving a report of a disturbance.
When officers arrived, the victim, who is pregnant, told them she was physically assaulted by her boyfriend, Tyler Charles, according to police.
Police say Charles fled, but officers chased him and were able to apprehend him not too far from the apartment.
Charles was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with multiple counts, including battery of a date partner and resisting an officer.
His bond was set at $2,500.
The Police Association of Lafayette Local #905 states, “Domestic violence is a serious issue in our community that seems to gradually increase over time. We encourage anyone that may be a victim to come forward and let us help.”
